It often surprises those who know me best; I love Andrew W.K., or at least the idea of him. Sure, he’s an entertainer first and a musician second but he’s specifically dedicated to our good time above all else. The live experience is distinctly American in the same way a KISS concert might be characterized that way; it’s done big, it’s all about entertainment and the audience always gets their money’s worth. Last night Mr. W.K. took the stage on Conan, armed with a firing squad of long-haired rockers, and played a raucous version of “It’s Time To Party” in honor of the 10th anniversary of his classic record I Get Wet. Whether you’re a fan of party rock or not, I highly recommend his shows.
