Aesop Rock to play Exit/In October 6th

For the past sixteen years, Ian Bavitz, better known by the moniker Aesop Rock, has yet to take a break. Starting out as a college student self-releasing records from his dorm room, his fan base grew due to his challenging and skilled lyricism as well as being on of the few artists who distinguished themselves in the sea of releases found on industry-changer MP3.com. More recently, he released his sixth full-length, Skelethon, this past July. It was well-received by the media, and subsequently another successful mark in Aesop’s colorful career.

With videos involving walking a dead cat and negotiating with the grim reaper, the teaser promotionals prior to the record’s release were both innovative and, for lack of a better word, hilarious. However, digging into the new record, it’s apparent that Aesop has far more going on than DIY promo videos. The production is tight, his flow flawless and the lyrical content both challenging and deserving of multiple spins.

His show is this Saturday and features performances from Rob Sonic, DJ Big Wiz and Dark Time Sunshine. Tickets can be purchased here.
