Welsh rockers The Joy Formidable are gearing up for what could be a massive 2013 for the band by blowing the lid off the final months of 2012. The band looks to capitalize on the strong buzz they’ve rightfully earned over the past few years on the strength of their gargantuan-sounding debut, The Big Roar.
The first US single from the new album, Wolf’s Law, hit rock radio stations on Wednesday. The song, titled “This Ladder Is Ours,” will see an official release on October 9, but you can stream it below. If you were a fan of The Big Roar, you already know damn well to crank up the volume for this one!
In addition to news of the single, the band has unveiled some new tour dates. After opening for Muse on a string of European dates, The Joy Formidable will hit the states for an intimate tour populated by small and non-traditional venues such a hot band. Don’t believe the tour will be intimate? Check the Chicago date at Top Note Theater. That rarely played venue clocks in at a 100-person capacity.
These guys have a reputation as a phenomenal live band with one of the loudest sounds around. You’d be wise to jump on these tickets early if they’re coming to your city. As a bonus, you’ll be privy to a wide selection of cuts from Wolf’s Law more than a month before the album is released.
