Hotly tipped new Los Angeles act Kitten today released the video and first listen to new single G#. The band is led by seventeen year old Chloe Chaidez (doesn’t that make you feel like you’ve under-achieved), who’s voice sounds mature and so well-honed it’s almost hard to believe she’s only seventeen. You can watch the video for the new track at the bottom of the article.
The new single is set to appear on the band’s upcoming debut LP entitled Cut It Out, the same name as the singer’s recently released two track EP, which is available to download now from Atlantic Records. You can also download the new track, G#, from the band’s soundcloud here, for a limited time.
Kitten have been hotly tipped, receiving critical acclaim for their independently released debut EP, Sunday School, as well as the outfits frenetic live shows, described by Brooklyn Vegan as “Karen O-Meets-The Blur-From-Smallville”. The band’s live performances recently earned the band coveted support slots with Paramore and fellow upcoming electro-pop artist Charli XCX. The band will also be playing a free show every Monday night at LA’s Bootleg Bar as part of their month long residency, as well as appearing at Cincinnati’s Midpoint Festival.
Talking to Spinner, Chaidez described the video for G# as “Kind of “Apocalypse Now” meets “The Outsiders,” to us anyway.”, adding:
“People keep asking us where we found the actors, but they’re all our close friends and are actually real-life couples, it made the whole process of shooting that much more fun. We shot for three days in the extreme desert heat of the Salton Sea, which could have been a bitch, but it ended up being a great time. We all knew that we were making something really cool.”
