Third Man Records Debuts Groundbreaking Venue, Books The Shins and The Kills

Third Man Records 1

Yesterday, we brought you the very cool news of Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label that will see its official launch at the end of the month. Now, we bring you details of the truly exciting things the incomparable Jack White has in store down at his Nashville audiophile wonderland, Third Man Records.

Third Man Records is “excited as all hell to announce” to announce the completion of its expansion and enhancements to its Nashville HQ. This Friday, October 6, Third Man will unveil the re-opening of its live venue with performances by The Shins and Low Cut Connie, plus Public Nuisance Reissue.  The gig will be a major departure from The Shins’ headlining tour in support of Port of Morrow, as they will play an extremely rare and intimate show at Third Man Records’ Blue Room.

During the Shins gig at the Blue Room, fans will be privy to seeing Third Man’s newly installed record cutting lathe (previously housed at the famed King Records in Cincinnati) and vinyl mastering suite. What this means is a one-of-a-kind live experience for fans, where they will be able to both watch the show and witness the performance being recorded, mixed and mastered live to an acetate disc via the viewing window and a two camera monitor system.  This groundbreaking setup makes Third Man Records the only live to acetate venue in the world.

In addition to The Shins / Low Cut Connie / Public Nuisance Reissue show, Third Man has The Kills, Seasick Steve, and the films of Olivia Wyatt lined up through October. The Kills will play the Blue Room on October 10 (with Two Tears in support), and Seasick Steve will hit the compound on October 26 (with The Promised Land in support). The Shins, The Kills and Seasick Steve performances will all be recorded for Live At Third Man LPs, and Promised Land will be recorded for a live 45. Limited edition black-and-blue, split-color vinyl pre-sales will be available for attendees only after each individual show.

Tickets for all Live at Third Man Records in the Blue Room shows are available now at Third Man Records and www.thirdmanrecords.com.
