It has been nearly five years since New York rockers The Virgins released their brash, sexy and catchy-as-all-hell self-titled debut, and it’s high time for new music from The Virgins’ camp.
The band’s sophomore album, titled Strike Gently, and it will be the first release from Cult Records, a new imprint founded by none other than Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas. In celebration of The Virgins’ inaugural Cult Records release, the guys and their new label-mates, Har Mar Superstar and C O L O R, will embark on a joint tour that kicks off on St. Patty’s Day in San Diego.
Below, you can check out and download Strike Gently‘s first single “Flashbacks, Memories and Dreams,” a swaggering pop nugget with a Combat Rock groove and Byrne-like vocal panache, to remind exactly how much you’ve missed The Virgins in their absence. The band went low-budget for a self-made video for the single, and it even manages to squeeze ex-MTV VJ Jesse Camp into the mix.
