The new Kingdom Heart 3 trailer debuted at D23 Japan, and it spent a lot of time following Sora, Goofy, and Donald as they transformed into monsters for their visit to Monstropolis.
The biggest announcement today is in regards to when we will finally know a release date for the game.
In addition to this trailer, the new theme song was revealed and is being performed by J-pop singer Utada Hikaru. According to Square Enix, there are roughly three worlds per game section, but that doesn't equate to nine total worlds. Additional footage shows Sora summoning Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Tangled to assist in battle.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2018.

Each section will have bout 3 worlds each but the developer stated that this does not mean there are only nine worlds within the game.
The early worlds are about 90% complete, with the middle worlds being at about 60%. "It is bound to surprise everyone". The game remains with an unspecified "2018" release date.
