A Dallas police officer who fatally shot a man she thought was inside her home when he was actually inside his own apartment has been arrested for manslaughter, records showed.
Police say the officer shot and killed 26-year-old Botham Jean after she returned home from her shift Thursday night and said she mistook his apartment for her own.
Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall said a manslaughter warrant was filed on Friday, but it was temporarily held up as an investigation was initiated by the state police (the Texas Rangers).
The news of Guyger's arrest broke on the evening of September 9, 2018 after two days of confusion about whether Guyger, 30, would face charges in the weird shooting death of Botham Shem Jean, a Saint Lucian man who moved to America to attend a Christian college and later got a job in risk assessment for a prominent company in Dallas.
According to the Texas Rangers, she was arrested in Kaufman County on Sunday after a warrant was issued for her arrest by the 7th District Court in Dallas County. She was expected to post a $300,000 bond and be released.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said Saturday that he had talked to Jean's family and to St. Lucia's prime minister to apologize for the young man's death.
"You want to think it's fiction. and you have to grapple with the reality", he said. Botham loved mankind. Botham never saw color, race.
Attorney Lee Merritt, who is representing Jean's family, also said that Jean did not know Guyger, according to family members. A struggle began and Ms Guyger fired her Taser at Perez, who then wrested it away from her.

The officer, whose name has not been released, entered Botham Jean's apartment late Thursday thinking it was her apartment.

Alyssa Kinsey, Jean's next-door neighbor, told CNN she was home on the phone Thursday night when she heard a shot. The officer's apartment was directly below Jean's, he said.

Hall announced Friday that investigators were preparing a warrant for a manslaughter charge.
Jon W. Morrison, minister for the Cedar Crest Church of Christ in Dallas, said, "When we do not have answers, we have prayer". "The very Bible says to render to Caesar that which is Caesar so if Caesar says to pay a penalty for a life, then she has to pay".
"She's a very religious woman and her view on this was amazingly graceful and peaceful", he added.
He attended Harding University, a private Christian institution in Arkansas, and was a member of the Good News Singers and campus ministry.
"Somebody has to be insane not to realize that they walked into the wrong apartment", Allie Jean said.
At the time of his death, Jean was working for PricewaterhouseCoopers, a multinational professional services firm with an office in Dallas.
"This is a bad tragedy", the professional services and auditing firm said via Twitter.
Jean was an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas, an worldwide company that does assurance, tax and advisory work for firms around the world.
