McConnell, frustrated with delays, says Senate will vote on Kavanaugh "this week"

In an interview that aired Sunday, Jeff Flake said that if that investigation found that Kavanaugh lied to the judicial committee during his hearing, his nomination would "be over", per CNN. I was very neutral on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Just as Republicans on the Judiciary Committee were about to favorably recommend the confirmation of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Friday, Flake had a change of heart.

Some Democratic members of Congress have accused the White House of stopping investigators from interviewing certain witnesses.

The Senate will vote this week on Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday.

Katie Hedberg of Plymouth, who was one of just over 100 people who came out to protest, said she wasn't sure whether Flake's call for an investigation was honest or if it was a way to give embattled Republicans cover to vote for Kavanaugh ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

"We certainly want the FBI to do a real investigation and we are working to make sure that that happens", Flake commented.

The majority leader had previously said Kavanaugh would be confirmed by October 1, but after four days of hearings into the nominee's background concluded, Democrats released an 11-hour bombshell that disrupted the process: An accusation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman, Christine Blasey Ford, while they were both in high school.

Kavanaugh has denied all of the allegations.

Last Friday, Brett Kavanaugh's vote to move from judiciary committee to full senate was passed, with the addition of an FBI investigation into the matter.

English Premier League match report Chelsea v Liverpool 29 September 2018
Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has predicted the scoreline of the Premier League game between Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday. Hazard scored a brilliant victor in Chelsea FC's 2-1 win over Liverpool FC in the League Cup third round on Wednesday night.

"I don't see that happening in my case".

"So we've learned that if you confide in Senate Democrats on highly sensitive personal matters, no request for confidentiality will keep you from becoming a household name", McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Responding to those concerns, Trump said at a press conference he wants the FBI to do a "comprehensive" investigation and "it wouldn't bother me at all" if agents pursued accusations made by the three women.

"I have been failing my tribe for some time now", Mr. Flake said.

Maybe I'm just hopeful, but that sounds like a man with a primary challenge in mind.

Should he oppose Trump in 2020, Flake is unlikely to win much support from New Hampshire Republicans, said Republican strategist Joel Maiola. The 55-year-old Republican, who is retiring from the Senate at the end of the year, has already declared his interest in a possible 2020 presidential bid - as a Republican or an independent - in part to stop Trump from winning a second term.

"My White House will do whatever the senators want", Trump said.

"Oh, yes. I would think so".
