Messi fires Barcelona to 4-2 win at Spurs

It took Barcelona only 92 seconds to score their first goal through Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho who was superbly assisted by Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba.

Eric Lamela gave Tottenham fans some hope in the 66th minute when he scored the second goal thanks to a superb assist by Heung Son, but Barcelona held on to record an incredible 4-2 win as Messi scored his second goal at the death. Not one. Of course, he's the best player in the world but come on, in the first half we conceded in the first minute.

Spurs pushed hard for the equaliser and almost had it in the 84th minute when Lucas Moura broke free in the Barcelona area only to see his shot from 8 yards out deflect off Lenglet and out of touch.

Spurs have now lost their opening two games in Group B to fall six points behind Barca and Inter Milan and were left to rue a slow start.

Ivan Rakitic doubled their lead on 28 minutes and Spurs found themselves at the mercy of Messi, who struck the post twice before scoring a third after Kane had cut the deficit in half for Spurs.

MESSI was in spectacular fashion and every where on the pitch for Barcelona.

And, in case you are wondering, Messi has scored 562 goals in 647 games for Barcelona, with 105 in the Champions League.

Alba was set through after a defence-splitting pass from Lionel Messi but Lloris needlessly vacated his goal in a moment of madness to gift Coutinho the chance. It was a positive performance from Spurs as the sides played out a goalless second-half. But against a team like Barcelona, this type of game when you play at that level, to give that advantage to a team like Barcelona is so hard to come back from. Our players were heroes because they were chasing the game against Messi, Suarez, Coutinho and co. We played with the handicap of conceding after one minute. Lucas Moura could have equalised.

"It's never easy to be an away team in the Champions League and even less so against a team like Tottenham. We had a few problems during the game but we managed to solve them".

Spurs put up a better fight after the interval, but Barcelona's second win in eight away Champions League games is a positive sign the LaLiga giants are getting back on track. We still think the same, that all is possible'.
