Germany will look to youth after Nations League relegation - Joachim Low

Virgil van Dijk made the headlines last night with a last gasp equaliser for the Netherlands to complete a comeback from 2-0 down to secure an all important point against Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

I wished him strength and said that he had [reffed] well.

Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum are set to be the key stars in the line-up, with the latter to be given a free role in the No 10 slot.

The Germans needed just 9 minutes to open the scoring when Timo Werner's lovely strike found its way into the back of the net.

Then, in the final minute, they played it long to Van Dijk, who couldn't score at the first attempt, but who then struck a powerful and memorable volley as the ball was recycled and crossed back into the area. Celtic cashed in on the player's move to Liverpool last January.

The result put the Netherlands top of Nations League Group A1 on seven points, the same number as France but ahead by virtue of a better head-to-head record.
