Trump tells girl believing in Santa at 7 is 'marginal'

The parents of the 7-year-old girl who spoke to President Donald Trump about her belief - or lack thereof - in Santa Claus said that they have no problem with the way the president spoke to their daughter.

The scientist who answered the phone asked the girl if she'd like to speak with President Trump.

President Donald Trump set off a Christmas social media storm when he questioned whether a seven-year-old was too long in the tooth to believe in Santa Claus.

In another phone call, Trump fixed his mistake and assumed that the child believed in Santa.

She told BuzzFeed that she didn't understand what the president was trying to say - and especially doesn't know what the word "marginal" means.

Trump's chat with Collman was initially reported as being with a boy named Coleman.

She told the publication that on Christmas morning the food was gone and presents were under the tree.
