Ohio State Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. Will Enter NFL Draft

Quarterback Justin Fields is finalizing a transfer from Georgia to Ohio State according to Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports.

"My time at the University of Georgia has given me the opportunity to refine my skills under great coaches and to play with incredibly talented teammates who've become like brothers to me". Both are close and have trained with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery.

Fields was the subject of racially bigoted comments made by a Georgia baseball player during a September 29 win against Tennessee, which led to that player's dismissal from the program after an internal investigation.

The San Francisco 49ers own the No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, and now that Dwayne Haskins has declared they are in the best possible spot. Freshman tight end Luke Ford also announced that he would be transferring, as he will head to IL. Fields did not start a game for Georgia this season.

Fields will be enrolling at The Ohio State University and begin classes as soon as Monday in Columbus. Day has been with the program as a quarterback coach and offensive coordinator since 2017. The true freshman was unable to claim the starting job from incumbent Jake Fromm, seeing action in every game this past year outside of the Sugar Bowl. As Thamel points out, this NCAA rule of an act of egregious behavior at a previous institution would make Fields immediately eligible for the upcoming season.

Many have speculated that Fields will use the remarks made by former UGA baseball player Adam Sasser as a reason to justify immediate eligibility.

As a redshirt sophomore, Haskins was expected to be a two-year starter at Ohio State entering the 2018 season.
