Tottenham's Pochettino urges more spending to compete for major trophies

Mauricio Pochettino says his Spurs side need to be more ruthless if they are to turn their progress under the Argentine into silverware. I can see in the future Tottenham winning trophies.

Tottenham are in a project now that is normal and maybe we are in advance in the football side, but I think we are creating and Daniel Levy is creating a legacy that is going to be awesome for the future of the club.

"As players you want to get as far in the cup as we can, hopefully win it".

Pochettino was employed by Daniel Levy in 2014 and given the brief of making Spurs into a top-four side by the time they moved into the new stadium.

"The other day I saw a stat that in the last 10 years in England and in Europe how the teams were spending money, and I think we were on the bottom, in England and Europe", he added.

The boss, whose side take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday, said: "Of course now after almost five years the club is on another level than five years ago, but how we operate in four or five years didn't change". Yes (we do), but we are in advance.

It would be tough for Tottenham to snare a player from one of Europe's top sides during the mid-season window, but the valuation of the Swiss worldwide, combined with the status of his current club makes him a realistic target should Dembele leave this month.

Kevin Spacey Appears in Court for Sexual Assault Charges
He is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old male after plying him with alcohol at a bar in Nantucket in 2016. He faces a single charge of indecent assault and battery, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Kawhi Leonard wishes for different end to Spurs tenure
Leonard spent seven seasons with the Spurs and won Finals MVP in 2014 when he helped guide the team to its fifth championship. At 27 and just entering his prime, it's reasonable to think his ceiling is even higher than what we've seen.

I will rid Brazil of corruption, Bolsonaro vows at swearing in
Temer, Brazil's most unpopular leader ever, faces a number of corruption accusation on leaving office. Netanyahu said Bolsonaro assured him Brazil's embassy will be moved to Jerusalem.

"But I don't know because I need to ask (Wenger) one day, if I have the possibility, if he is so happy in the way that he finished", he said.

He added: "Of course, we should be in the Champions League next season and that is the aim but we have done nothing yet and I know it is a cliche but it has to be game by game".

Pochettino believes his players need to adopt a strong mental toughness to add to their fluent passing football. I am so happy to be here. "But we have the opportunity in the next few months to show we are capable to be more competitive", he said.

Interestingly, Tottenham were in top form after crushing Everton and Bournemouth 6-2 and 5-0 respectively within the festive period, moving above Man City into second spot in the Premier League log. We were very nice kids playing football and now we're more mature, more competitive.

"But all the foundations are down for one day to start to win titles and be like another successful club".

"It is about to build the new stadium. that it is a project that is going to be a massive legacy for the club, for the fans, for the players in the future, for the new coaching staff, manager". "We grow a lot in the last five years and I think this game was important to learn a lot".
