According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the former Green Bay Packers coach is planning to sit out the next year after losing out on the New York Jets' head-coaching job, which went to former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase.

The New York Jets stayed in the AFC East to find their new head coach - and their fans could not hide their displeasure on social media. The former Green Bay Packers head coach has only interviewed with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns thus far.

If Gase comes to the Jets and believes his shtick doesn't stink, that he did all the right things with the Dolphins and he's going to do the same things here, that's not going to benefit him or the Jets. Gase worked with Manning from 2012 through 2014-first as the Broncos' quarterbacks coach, and then as offensive coordinator. Over the span of 13 seasons the Packers went 135-85-2, while winning Super Bowl XLV. Baylor head coach Matt Rhule was also reportedly linked to the job. NY was linked to Kliff Kingsbury, but he took the Arizona Cardinals job.

He's got 13 seasons under his belt as a National Football League head coach, all with the Packers.

So, why? Why in the world would the Jets" upper brass pass on an opportunity to land the franchise's most decorated coach since Bill Parcells told Leon Hess "yes' back in 1997 for Adam Gase?
