Zoroaster (zohr-oh-as-ter) features guitarist / vocalist Will Fiore, bassist / vocalist Brent Anderson and drummer Dan Scanlan. The trio’s live show has been described as “an obliteration of the senses,” earning it the distinction of “Atlanta’s loudest band.”

Matador was Produced and engineered by Sanford Parker at Glow in the Dark Studios and The Living Room Recording in Atlanta, and mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room in Chicago, Illinois, the CD is “a magnetic tour-de-force, blending vivid rhythms and radiance with the band’s classic use of dynamics and power,” according to a press release. “Creative, distinct, graceful and strong, ‘Matador’ features the traits of a benchmark release. From the cosmic march of album opener ‘D.N.R.’ through to the leviathan-like closing title track, it is immediately evident that Zoroaster has joined friends – and fellow Atlanta natives – Mastodon and new label mates High On Fire as a unit determined to push modern heavy music into new and uncharted realms.”

The “Matador” cover art was designed by Brian Mercer.

“Matador” track listing:

01. D.N.R.
02. Ancient Ones
03. Odyssey
04. Trident
05. Firewater
06. Old World
07. Black Hole
08. Odyssey Ii
09. Matador

The “Odyssey” video can be viewed below (courtesy of Stereogum). The clip was helmed by director Chad Rullman for Supercollider Films. The Atlanta-based Rullman is known previously for directing Mastodon’s career-launching videos “March of the Fire Ants” and “Iron Tusk” as well as his work for such artists as Neurosis, Nile and Soilent Green.

“Zoroaster is my favorite Atlanta metal band and I’ve been dying to work with them,” commented the director. “Their shows are monstrous, and with this video I really wanted to capture the essence of the Zoroaster live experience.”
