Mastodon’s ‘Crack The Skye’ Makes Time Magazine’s Top 10 Albums of 2009

It’s been a good year for Mastodon. The Metal band from Atlanta, Georgia released their new album ‘Crack The Skye’ in March 2009 and now that album has landed at #3 on Time Magazine’s Top 10 Albums of 2009.
An excerpt from the Time article reads,“There are plenty of bass-drum carpet-bombings, and “The Czar,” a four-part ode to Rasputin — O.K., go ahead: “Hello, Cleveland!” — has all the whiplash rhythm shifts of vintage Metallica.”
Since the release of Crack The Skye, Mastodon has been going at breakneck pace, headlining their own tour in support of the new album and touring as direct support for Metallica on the European leg of the “Death Magnetic” Tour. Mastodon will go back on the road with Metallica in 2010 when the Death Magnetic tour makes stops in Mexico and South America.
