When it comes to The Flaming Lips, it’s safe to assume nobody knows exactly where/what they are doing at any given point in time. Another Beatles’ cover has surfaced on the interwebz today from their NYE show in Oklahoma City, and by cover I mean 17 minute long psych-fest. As previously reported, Flaming Lips are currently working with artist such as Bon Iver, Ke$ha, Erykah Badu and Neon Indian on a forthcoming collabs LP to be relaesed April 21st for Record Store Day. As previously reported, Flaming Lips are working on yet another collab album and this one will feature Bon Iver and Neon Indian. In an interview with Rolling Stone, The Lips confirmed that they are working on yet another collab album, and this time around they'll be working with Bon Iver and Neon Indian. Not content with releasing a song only six hours long, The Flaming Lips have gone four times better by streaming a 24 hour song online to celebrate Halloween. The song - entitled 7 Skies H3 - can be bought, but in the form of a human skull (complete with USB port) for $5,000. At the time of writing there are only thirteen skulls left, but the song stream can be listened to HERE. The Flaming Lips recent set at the Brady District Block Party was canceled due to the collapse of their lighting rig. Before the band took the stage, a heavy storm swept the ground of the festival causing the rig to collapse, and although no one was hurt, around $800,000 of the bands equipment was destroyed. Lead singer Wayne Coyne is said to have rushed on stage almost immediately after the accident, helping crew members salvage any undamaged equipment. Weezer and The Flaming Lips played two very unique co-headlining performances in the NYC area this weekend. During the shows both bands share the stage at the same time and trade off songs.
