Snow Patrol Set to Release Sixth Album in 2011

The great outdoors have inspired Snow Patrol to work on their sixth studio album, the follow up to 2008’s A Hundred Million Suns, which entered the Billboard Top Ten.

Drummer Jonny Quinn told the Daily Record that an album would be released “Definitely next year… after February and before July. We’re going to record new material in October.” Quinn says the group enjoys writing out in the open. “I live by the sea in Ireland and I find that’s the most inspiring time, sitting with a guitar on the beach.” They don’t confine their writing to one space though. “We write on the tourbus, in dressing rooms, in the studio and in phone boxes, because no one is using them because everyone has mobile phones.”

When they’re not cramming into phone booths, the band is separated, working on other projects. Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody is teaming up with REM guitarist Peter Buck for the new side project, Tired Pony, which plans to release their debut album next month. “The Place We Ran From” is the single, set to be released on July 12th and scheduled to be accompanied by some rare live shows.
