Rising star Pretty Lights is having quite the week. The electronic music artist, also known as Derek Vincent Smith, just debuted his new light display, as well as a new original track called “I Know the Truth” at the 2011 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Much like his recent remixes, the track is darker and glitchier than the rest of his discography. This combined with his twinkly synthesizers and romantic soul samples offers a fresh twist on a tried and true sound.
Smith also just signed a new artist named Gramatik to his independent label. He now joins the Pretty Lights Music family, which consists of Break Science, Paper Diamond, Michael Menert and Smith himself. Gramatik’s new track “So Much for Love” can be downloaded for free or optional donation at the Pretty Lights official website. His full album Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1 will be available on July 12.
