Johnny Greenwood and Aphex Twin In Concert…Together?

Over the weekend, an unlikely trio joined forces to create performances that anyone in attendance will be hard pressed to forget.  As a part of the European Culture Congress, Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead, Richard D. James (more commonly known as Aphex Twin), and avant-garde composer Krzysztof Penderecki performed in Penderecki’s home country of Poland.  On Friday, Greenwood premiered his “48 Responses to Polymorphia”, which was directly inspired by Penderecki’s 1961 piece “Polymorphia”.  Saturday brought Aphex Twin’s remixes of the Polish composer’s 1960 “Threnody for Victims of Hiroshima” and “Polymorphia”, aptly titled “Polymorphia Reloaded”.
