Small-town girl Kellie Pickler is getting ready for her new album Tough, which will be her third-studio album to be released.
Pickler had a hard life growing up, and that comes through in this album. After being abondoned by her mother and raised by her grandparents since her father was in and out of jail and abusing drugs and alcohol, she is finally ready to let go of those emotions through her music.
These incredibly intense memories come through in songs like “Mother’s Day”, written with husband and songwriter Kyle Jacobs, about which she admits she was never able to celebrate. While releasing the torments that she grew up with, Jacobs and Pickler were also able to connect while rising above the memories. The pain and hurt comes through in her writing, and Tough is a compilation of all of the feelings Pickler has had to overcome.
She is a model to admire, and I’m sure fans all over will applaud her bravery and will to overcome her troubled past with this new album, which has already appeared in the Top 30. Preview it with a video for “Tough” below.
