Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke has died following a tragic ski accident last week. She was 29 years old.
Burke slipped into a coma after she crashed during a training run on the superpipe in Park City, Utah last Thursday, Jan. 11.
According to People, Burke underwent successful surgery to repair a torn vertebral artery that caused bleeding between her brain and her skull, but never came out of her coma.
Burke, who won gold medals in the Winter X-Games and World Free Style Skiing Championships, was thought to be a frontrunner in the upcoming Olympics.
