Hoboken Mayor Denies Film Permit for Snookie and Jwoww Spin-off

They might love New Jersey, but not everyone in Jersey is fond of Snooki and Jwoww.

The duo’s plans to film their new MTV spin-off  in Hoboken were quashed when the town’s Mayor, Dawn Zimmer, denied the production company’s request for a film permit.

In a letter to MTV, Zimmer stated that the Hoboken Film Commission unanimously voted to deny the permit to 495 Productions “based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents.”

Zimmer claims that filming the show would result in an “unacceptable lessening of the quality of life for the local residents and businesses” — causing traffic, creating large noisy crowds, and completely disrupting day-to-day life.

She continued:

“Any attempts to film in a manner that is not permitted without a permit will be dealt with immediately and aggressively by the city of Hoboken.”

If they so choose, the production company has the right to appeal the Film Commissions decision to the Hoboken City Council, but why bother. We’re sure there are other parts of New Jersey that wouldn’t mind putting up with part of the Jersey Shore cast.
