Since the first inklings of her new found status as music’s new sensation, it was clear to Del Rey that there would be a backlash, she stated;

There’s backlash about everything I do. It’s nothing new. When I walk outside, people have something to say about it.

In response to the criticism’s of her performance on Saturday Night Live, which received criticism from Juliette Lewis and even NBC Anchor Brian Williams, Del Rey said ‘I thought I looked beautiful and sang fine’ adding that ‘the cast and crew said they loved it.’ The singer also talked of problems she has with her stage presence of performance, saying that; ‘I’m nervous. I’m not a natural performer or exhibitionist. When I was younger, I hated the focus, and it made me feel strange.’
