Fiona Apple to Play SXSW 2012

Well, SXSW 2012 non-badge-holders may have something to be extremely jealous about after Pitchfork’s announcement today. The music site and SX mega-sponsor announced this morning that Fiona Apple has been added to their official showcase, taking place Thursday, March 15 at the Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Austin.

The 34-year-old, Grammy award winning singer-songwriter hasn’t played many shows in the past six years, since touring in support of her 2005 LP, Extraordinary Machine. That one, Apple’s third full-length record, didn’t fair well with previous fans, though the collection featured more technical, experimental and highly musical orchestrations.

Uber fans are already wooing over this shocking, high profile return. But the 400-capacity venue will no doubt be sprawling with a line of eager badge and wristband holders well before the slated 8:00pm performance.

Extraordinary Machine didn’t fair well with fans? Or do you mean they liked the Brion sessions better than the released version? Clear that up.
