Announced via an interview with radio station KISS FM, Lil Wayne has revealed to have signed rap/rock outfit Limp Bizkit to his ever-growing roster of artists in the Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB) empire. Already turning heads with his recent signings of Christina Milian, Busta Rhymes and Mystikal, this latest acquisition takes the cake.
Limp Bizkit rose to fame in the early 2000′s with the help of the golden era of MTV’s Total Request Live, but fell into a zone of obscurity during the latter half of the past decade due to dismal record sales and fluctuating band roster. They released a new album Gold Cobra last year with all original band members reunited along with their trademark “nu-metal” sound that pretty much went under the radar.
While signing Busta Rhymes was a heavy power move for the Cash Money label, signing Limp Bizkit, due to circumstances, appears to be an uphill battle for Lil Wayne. Will he make one of the biggest label CEO moves ever by reigniting Limp Bizkit’s career or will this prove to be a pointless endeavor?
