Soulsavers Announce their Return with Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan

All hail the return of Soulsavers! The duo from London have announced the release of new single ‘Longest Day’, featuring none other than Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan. If you aren’t excited then you should be.

The duo’s fourth album, entitled The Light the Dead See, features vocals by Gahan on all of the twelve tracks. The album will be the first since the duo’s second album not to feature the beautifully fitting vocals of Mark Lanegan, but we’re more than confident that Gahan’s vocals will also be a treat. With Lanegan having spent the best part of last year recording critically acclaimed ‘Blues Funeral’, he was unavailable, however Soulsavers acted as Depeche Mode’s support band on the European leg of the band’s 2010 tour, so it would seem a collaboration that must have been discussed a good while ago.

The Light the Dead See is due out on 21st May, another May release to wet the pants of music lovers everywhere. According to the NME, the Depeche Mode frontman has said he wishes to record another album with the duo in the future.

The tracklisting for the album is as follows:

‘La Ribera’
‘In The Morning’
‘Longest Day’
‘Presence of God’
‘Just Try’
‘Gone Too Far’
‘Point Sur Pt.1′
‘Take Me Back Home’
‘I Can’t Stay’

The band’s new single Longest Day is due out on 2nd April, and will also feature on a special 7″ single for Record Store Day. You can hear the track below.
