Brian McKnight Previews Sexual New Track; Receives Backlash

R&B artist Brian McKnight, known for his hit ballads such as “Anytime” and “Back At One” is looking forward to taking his form of Adult Contemporary music to the next level.

On Monday, McKnight released a video explaining his new direction involving an “adult-themed” mixtape and previewed a new song titled “If You’re Ready To Learn”. The song included left field suggestive lyrics such as ”Let me show you how your p—- works, since you didn’t bring it to me first/I have lots of things to show you if you’re ready to learn. Let me show you how your p—- works, bet you didn’t know that it could squirt. I have lots of things to show you if you’re ready to learn.” Quite out of McKnight’s clean cut character.

Twitter was subsequently set ablaze with many negative remarks about the previewed track to the point where it became a trending topic.

The backlash was strong enough to prompt McKnight to remove the video from YouTube, but it was far too late. Many users have ripped and re-uploaded the video.

View the video below. Is this too out of character for McKnight or should it be understood that he is progressing his art or adjusting to the current “dark r&b” era?
