Amy, My Daughter: A Father’s Story

It has been nearly a year since the death of Amy Winehouse and the absence of headlines relating the Grammy Award winner’s allegedly drug-induced, scandalous rants feels like an eerie silence, a white noise in the cacophonous world of entertainment news.  We came to love that iconic figure called Amy Winehouse, a  vulnerable and charismatic girl gone bad whose morbid down spiral followed the trajectory of other mythical figures in the music business. To her fans, a great singer is gone. But to her father, Mitch Winehouse, the loss of his daughter has greater implications, as we will learn in his new book Amy, My Daughter, to be released this summer.

Mitch Winehouse has been working on his version of Amy’s life for the past year while dedicating himself fully to the Amy Winehouse Foundation and grieving her loss. All proceeds will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

In a recent interview with the UK’s The Independent, Mr. Winehouse said the loss of his daughter will forever haunt him but he finds solace in his work as an activist.

“Nobody should know what it feels like to bury a child”, he told the newspaper.

“The natural process is that you bury your grandparents, your parents, but to bury a child…”   “Everybody has to deal with it in their own way. Some people deal with it positively and some people deal with it negatively.”

Amy, My Daughter is now available for pre-order in the United States and the United Kingdom. To pre-order Amy, My Daughter, go to Amazon.com

If you happen to be in the UK on July 3rd, you may attend the premiere of Maurice Linnane’s documentary on Amy Winehouse.
