Ron Howard to Direct Doc of Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival

According to The New York Post, director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon, Apollo 13) and his super-producer and Imagine Entertainment co-chair, Brian Grazer, have announced plans to make a film chronicling Jay-Z’s Made in America festival.

Grazer said, “I am producing the film…Ron is directing. It is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective …Jay stayed the king for a very long time… He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”

As TST previously reported, Jay-Z, Budweiser, and United Way of Greater Philadelphia will be bringing more than 20 of the most prominent artists in music today to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park for the two-day “Budweiser Made in America” festival over Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1 & 2).

Jigga curated the powerhouse line-up himself, and he has high hopes for what the festival can achieve. He told reporters back in May, “Whenever I enter into a project, I try to hit on some touch points. The first thing is: Is it great? The second one is: Is it gonna push the culture forward?”

2-day ($135) and single-day ($75) passes for the festival on sale via Ticketmaster.

“Budweiser Made in America” Artists:

Jay-Z, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Chris Cornell, Run DMC, Drake, Jill Scott, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Maybach Music (feat. Rick Ross, Wale & Meek Mill), Miike Snow, Passion Pit, Alesso, Prince Royce, Gary Clark Jr, Janelle Monae, Santigold, Odd Future, D’Angelo, Dirty Projectors, X, Rita Ora, The Hives, Nicky Romero, DJ Shadow (DJ set), Michael Woods, Savoy, Otto Knows, Burns, and The Knocks.
