Fresh off making news last week for firing a cease and desist letter Mitt Romney’s way for his unauthorized and inexplicable use of the massive rock radio hit “Panic Switch” on his Presidential campaign bid, rockers Silversun Pickups have announced a slew of additional dates to their fall tour. They’ve invited School of Seven Bells, Cloud Nothings and Atlas Genius along in support for various dates.
If you’ve seen Silversun Pickups live, you’re acutely aware that the band’s live show consistently is a thrilling head rush of guitar heroics, thunderous noise and layered soundscapes climaxing on the strength of Brian Aubert’s melodies. If you’re a newcomer to the SP live show, there’s no better time to catch them than in support of their latest top-notch album, Neck of the Woods.
My TST review of Neck of the Woods back in May described Silversun Pickups as “sticking to (their) guns…(while) adding a glossy veneer and making a play for maximum impact.” The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 and marked the highest chart position in the band’s career. The review finished by saying, “(Silversun Pickups) create a stadium-sized sound for a band whose hallmark sound has consistently trounced the modest venues they customarily play.” These newest dates are the perfect opportunity to find out why.
Neck of the Woods is available now via Dangerbird Records.
