Backfire: HMV plasters new Chris Brown record with “this man beats women” stickers, promotes album.

Well, it looks like social justice has failed again.

A HMV store in Cambridge recently labeled Chris Brown’s recent release Fortune with bright yellow stickers reading “WARNING: Do not buy this album. This man beats women”. now, I don’t know about you, but even if I wanted to buy Fortune, the shame from purchasing an album with such a warning would be enough to keep me away from the till.

Speaking to NME, a spokesperson for HMV has recently suggested that enough people were attracted by the stickers and lacked the self-respect to just walk away, and has in fact helped the album. They stated “We were as surprised as anyone when the stickers appeared in one of our stores outside of London at the back end of last week”. They continued to plead ignorance, stating “Obviously someone must have snuck in to put them on a handful of CDs, and although they weren’t up very long before staff removed them, the person responsible managed to take a snap and send it out to media”.

Hey man, as long as HMV are getting paid. Maybe they can start sticking these warnings on more albums.
