Earlier this summer, Band of Horses unveiled the video for “Knock Knock,” an impossibly catchy rock and roll tune that is easily one of the finest singles of 2012.
Now, Band of Horses have offered up a second track off their upcoming fourth album, Mirage Rock, with the ballad “Slow Cruel Hands of Time.” While “Knock Knock” showcased the band’s impressive knack for crafting driving rock with mammoth hooks, “Slow Cruel Hands of Time” relishes in Band of Horses’ abilities to pen quieter, ethereal gems.
Mirage Rock was produced by the legendary Glyn Johns (the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who worked with The Doors, The Who, Faces, and countless others in their primes), and it has every indication of living up to, if not surpassing, the terrific catalog Band of Horses have already amassed with Everything All the Time, Cease to Begin, and Infinite Arms.
Mirage Rock will hit stores and iTunes on Sept. 18 courtesy of Columbia Records. Listen to “Slow Cruel Hands of Time” below.
