As previously reported, the Jimi Hendrix biopic, “All Is by My Side,” is under production in Ireland, and portraying the legendary guitarist is rapper André Benjamin.

One-half of the popular rap duo Outkast, Benjamin (André 3000) is a legend in his own right – making a name for himself in the film industry after landing roles in movies such as “Four Brothers” and “Semi-Pro.”

Today, we get our first look at the rapper as Hendrix and we have to admit – the resemblance is uncanny.

Although production has begun on the long-awaiting film, the big question is whether Hendrix’s music will be used in the movie. The Hendrix family has declined the use of Jimi’s image or music in the film, releasing the following statement:

“The EH board have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future. Though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.”

A film about Hendrix, without use of his music might not bode well with moviegoers, but fans of Outkast should enjoy the chance to see Benjamin in action. Apart from the occasional feature, the rapper has been virtually absent from the music scene – stating earlier this year that “there are no plans for another OutKast album.”

Jim Paratore, TV producer and the creator of TMZ, died today from an apparent heart attack. He was 58.

Paratore worked as vp of  Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and created TMZ with Harvey Levin in 2006.

“The Warner Bros. Television family has lost an incredibly talented and creative friend and colleague in Jim,” said Bruce Rosenblum, president of Warner Bros. Jim had a passion for life, both inside and outside the entertainment industry, and he will truly be missed. All of us at Warner Bros. are shaken by this news.”

Since its start, TMZ has become one of the most popular entertainment and celebrity gossip sites on the internet. Paratore is also credited with helping Ellen Degeneres land her popular talk show. He also had a hand in other popular shows such as “Judge Mathis”, “Rosie”, “TMZ TV”, “Extra” and The Bachelor.”

Time Magazine Breastfeeding Cover Causes Social Frenzy Thu, 10 May 2012 22:27:58 +0000 Sindy Lucas

Quite a few people, women and men alike, were a bit taken back the Time Magazine cover that features a mother, 26-year-old Jamie Lynne Grumet proudly breastfeeding her 3-year old son.

Grumet tweeted, “Oh my gosh! Aram and I are on the cover of @timemagazine”.

Although the cover is getting plenty of attention, the actual cover story deals with attachment parenting and profiles Dr. William Sears. It also features three other mothers who tackle issues such as breast-feeding, co-sleeping and “baby wearing”.

Bristol Palin Takes Shots at President Obama, Praises Dora the Explorer Thu, 10 May 2012 17:43:19 +0000 Sindy Lucas In a new blog post, Bristol Palin, the spawn of Sarah Palin, took numerous digs at President Obama for his newfound stance on gay marriage. Oh, she also took a few shots at Glee.

She writes:

“In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage.  Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.

In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.

Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”

So, to recap. Dora the Explorer is doing a wonderful job. President Obama shouldn’t listen to his daughters, and Glee will turn your kids gay, or at least make them believe that gay marriage is alright.

What do you think about Bristol’s comments?

Nigel Barker: ‘Good Luck Replacing Me on America’s Next Top Model’ Fri, 20 Apr 2012 21:42:31 +0000 Sindy Lucas As we previously reported, Tyra Banks and the producers of America’s Next Top Model brought down the axe on three long-time judges, Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and Jay Alexander.

Now Barker is speaking out, telling TMZ that it’s not going to be that easy to replace him. “Good luck to whoever [replaces me]. I would imagine it’s a tricky thing to replace someone who’s going on their 19th season,” he tells TMZ.

He continued:

“Who knows if this is going to work? I don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea … Maybe it will work. Maybe it won’t. I wish them luck.”

Although a shock for many, Barker saw it coming, having actually “survived the chopping block before.” He also acknowledged that low ratings were main reason behind Tyra’s decision.

“I’m friends with Tyra and the producers,” Barker told E! News. “It wasn’t a shock … There had been a discussion that ratings were down and that something like this would happen.

According to reports, Banks is attempting to revamp the show and wants to capitalize on the power of social media by possibly adding a few popular fashionista bloggers on the show.

Jack White’s Balloon Launch Single Fetches Almost $5,000 on eBay Thu, 19 Apr 2012 21:22:06 +0000 Sindy Lucas A few weeks ago we told you about Jack White’s unorthodox approach to premiering his new single “Freedom at 21″. The singer launched 1000 balloons filled with the flexi-disc and from there it was finders keepers.

Now White’s label, Third Man Records, is reporting that one of the found singles was sold on eBay for an astounding $4238.88, possibly making this the highest price ever paid for a flexi-disc record.

According to the label, only a few of the balloons were located, so check your backyards. You could be sitting on a treasure.

White’s debut album Blunderbuss drops April 24th via Third Man Records.

Audio: Mel Gibson Expletive Rant Caught on Tap (NSFW) Thu, 19 Apr 2012 02:18:19 +0000 Sindy Lucas

Mel Gibson is once again caught on tape going absolutely nuts. The Wrap posted the audio of Gibson screaming and cursing at the top of his lungs during a trip to Costa Rica. The actor was apparently screaming at The Maccabees screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas, who provided the damning audio to the website.

In an interview with The Wrap, Eszterhas said he provided the tape because “Gibson called me a liar. And I also have some reason to believe he’s creating a PR blitz questioning my truthfulness.” The writer has also alleged that Gibson talked about  killing Oksana Grigorieva, hating Jews, and praising the guy who killled John Lennon.

Lollapalooza will take place August 3-5th at Chicago’s Grant Park. 3-Day and VIP passes are on sale now.

Jack White Debuts New Single “Freedom at 21″ Via Balloon Launch Mon, 02 Apr 2012 15:29:36 +0000 Sindy Lucas Jack White is nothing if not innovative, and the singer has come up with an unorthodox way of premiering another new single from his forthcoming, highly anticipated album, Blunderbuss. Three weeks before the April 24 release of  the LP, yesterday Third Man Records premiered unreleased track “Freedom at 21″ exclusively via 1000 flexi-disc records attached to helium balloons launched from the label headquarters in Nashville on April 1st, 2012.

The press release reads, “Envisioned as an experiment exploring non-traditional forms of record distribution and a way to get records in the hands of people who don’t visit record shops, the label was sure to use biodegradable latex balloons and all-natural twine in the process.”

It continues:

“Accompanying the balloons were custom postcards with instructions for the finders to submit photos, discovery location and the date on which the record was found, all of which will be incorporated into a website where fans can access the information at Statistics for similar balloon launches show a recovery rate of approximately 10% so it’s quite possible that less than 100 of the 1000 records launched will ever be discovered. Whatever the numbers, the “Freedom at 21″ flexi-disc will surely be a highly sought-after collectible for years to come. “
