Chronicle Wins at the Box Office During Super Bowl Weekend


It was a tough race between two films, unfortunately for Daniel Radcliffe, his new film The Woman in Black didn't have enough magic to best Chronicle. Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank, managed to rake in $22 million while The Woman in Black scared off $21 million from Friday to Sunday. Underworld Awakening ruled this past weekend at the box office raking in an estimated $25.4 million. This is the fourth film in the vampire saga. Beckinsale was the protagonist in the first two films, opted out of the third and made her return in the latest installment. Red Tails, produced by George Lucas, did well enough to secure the second spot with $19.1 million, not bad for a film that cost approximately only $58 million to make. Wahlberg Takes Down the Beast at Box Office


Mark Walhberg’s latest vehicle Contraband beat out Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, taking in an estimated $24.1 million to take the top spot at the box office this past weekend. Disney's reboot of the children's classic had a respectable showing, bringing in of $18.5 million this weekend. The Devil Inside finally ended Mission Impossible 4’s reign at the box office this past weekend. But not only that, the exorcist-themed film grossed an estimated $34.5 million dollars, making it one of the biggest openers in January.
