Grohl Hoping to Be Played by A Woman in Cobain Biopic

Kurt Cobain had been known to rock a frock on occasion.  Now former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, tells People magazine that he wishes to be portrayed by actress Shelley Duvall in the planned Cobain biopic.  Movie maker Oren Moverman (“The Messenger”) is in talks to direct the film, based on Charles R. Cross’s 2001 book, Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain.

“I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m crossing my fingers that Shelley Duvall plays me,” Grohl says.  “Shelley Duvall in ‘The Shining’… That is my face.  You cannot get any closer than that.”

Grohl argues that it’s been done before, with Cate Blanchett playing a Bob Dylan persona in the 2007 film,“I’m Not There.”  While the hard-hitting grunge rock drummer was never likened to Boy George, he proclaims, “I am probably the least manly dude that you have ever met in your life. So why not have Shelley Duvall play me?”  Well, why not?

Francis Bean Cobain Lends Vocals to Evelyn Evelyn’s Debut Album

Francis Bean Cobain, the daughter of the late Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain, and Hole frontwoman Courtney Love has decided to follow in her father’s (and mother’s) footsteps.

According to Spin.com, the 17-year-old will make her recording debut with Evelyn Evelyn, a new project from Dresden Dolls frontwoman Amanda Palmer and bandmate Jason Webley.

Francis will be joined by Tegan and Sara, Andrew W.K., “Weird Al” Yankovic, writer Neil Gaiman, and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way to provide vocals on the song “My Space.” My Space is one of the 12 tracks on Evelyn’s self titled debut album. The album is set to be release March 30th on Eleven Records.

Nirvana-20th Anniversary Edition of Bleach and “Live at Reading”

Sub-Pop Records will be re-issuing the Platinum Certified Bleach on November 3, 2009, making it 20 years since the original album was released in June of 1989.

The CD includes two discs and a never-before-released live performance from 1990 of the band at the Pine Street Theatre in Portland.
