Take a look at the new Yeasayer video for their single “Madder Red”. The video stars Forgetting Sarah Marshall’s Kristen Bell. The video is a little odd to say the least, but let us know what you think in the comment section.

‘Gone to Governors’ Free NYC Concerts

Summer is all about music concerts.  And there’s nothing like free concerts, especially for bands you would have been willing to pay to see.  “Gone to Governors” is going to be a weekly Saturday show sponsored by Converse and booked by the Bowery Presents. Held at The Beach at Governors Island in New York City, the series of shows already has quite an impressive early lineup: She & Him are playing on the 4th of July (a Sunday), Yeasayer on June 5th and Neon Indian on August 14th.

BrooklynVegan will be the official media sponsor of the series which will also include the Local Natives on August 7^th for a mere $10.

Yeasayer Tour Starts in February

Yeasayer will soon embark on an extensive tour to support the band’s sophomore album release, Odd Blood.  The tour will begin in Los Angeles the first week of February, veering into Europe and back into the states by April.  The first single from the album “Ambling Alp” is available for free download at www.amblingalp.com.  Odd Blood will be released February 9 via Secretly Canadian.

Best of 2009: Top 25 Indie Songs

Keeping up with the year’s independent releases is a daunting task, but also among my favorite constant activities.  Oodles of great music have come out this year, and because some of my favorites have been singles, I decided to focus on songs, rather than albums.

Besides that, the introduction to an artist always begins with a single song, so I felt compelled to deliver to you the song that I consider could turn you on to the album within which it resides.  In deciding which songs to include on this list, I focused on the music that has consistently impressed and moved me musically, but also poetically and philosophically, and so I hope you’ll enjoy this compilation. Yeasayer to Release Sophmore Album in February

Secretly Canadian will be releasing Yeasayer’s sophomore album, Odd Blood in February of next year.

The first single off the record, “Ambling Alp,” is available for free download now on Yeasayer’s website and will be released digitally and on 12” vinyl in limited edition on November 3.
